Cox Fleet is currently hiring a Mobile Diesel Technician II.
Duties- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment (electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.).
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment across a wide range of systems (electrical, brake, cooling, air conditioning, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.).
- Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
- Identify problems, determine the relevance of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives using sound judgment.
- Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company‑issued service truck, performing periodic reconciliations.
- Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conducting safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
- Work effectively with clients and customers to assess needs, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
- Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
- Utilize hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lift jacks.
- Document work according to company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) via the proprietary TRAIT application on an iOS device.
- Accurately complete DOT forms and all other documentation in a timely fashion.
- Work independently, managing the daily schedule.
- Maintain a high level of productivity, meeting or exceeding standard repair times.
- Obtain parts from approved vendors as needed.
- Communicate with management and support via email or phone for repair estimates, purchase order numbers, and RO findings.
- Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Maintain the service truck, conducting daily safety checks and inspections.
- High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of related experience; a degree or certification beyond high school or 5 years of experience may also qualify.
- At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
- Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for the job.
- OEM training and certifications are preferred.
- Participate in and complete all company‑required training.
- Position follows DOT FMCSA regulations; must successfully complete and pass a DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
- Maintain a valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining; otherwise a DOT physical will be required.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Valid driver’s license required; must obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
