CompensationHourly base pay rate is $32.07 - $48.13/hour. The hourly base rate may vary based on location and candidate qualifications. Position may also be eligible for commission or incentive compensation.
Job DescriptionThe Mobile Diesel Technician II will be responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The role is heavily relied upon for advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs, serving as the lead on jobsites, and functioning as a consultant on the customer’s behalf. Successful completion of company policies and high performance metrics is expected.
Responsibilities- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
- Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
- Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
- Inspect, test, and diagnose equipment using handheld computers and pressure gauges.
- Road test vehicles to verify proper operation.
- Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and make sound judgments.
- Manage parts inventory and reconcile company‑issued service truck equipment.
- Maintain and operate the company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections.
- Communicate effectively with clients and customers to assess needs, resolve problems, and meet expectations.
- Prioritize concurrent tasks and allocate time effectively.
- Utilize hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, and lift jacks.
- Document work and upload pictures, parts, and findings to Repair Orders using iOS devices and the TRAIT application.
- Complete DOT forms and other documentation accurately and timely.
- Work independently and manage a daily schedule.
- Maintain high productivity and meet standard repair times.
- Source parts from approved local and national vendors.
- Communicate with management and support teams to obtain repair estimate approvals and purchase order numbers.
- Perform all work in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety policies.
- High School Diploma or GED with at least 3 years of related experience; candidates with higher degrees or certifications may be considered.
- Minimum 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
- Possess required hand tools for duties.
- OEM training and certifications preferred.
- Complete all company required training.
- Must pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical.
- Current valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
