Senior Controls Engineer – Critical Power
Must-Haves:
• 7+ years of experience in switch gear design, application engineering, commissioning, or power systems engineering
• Strong expertise with low-voltage and medium-voltage switch gear systems (480V to 38kV; ideally up to ~69kV)
• Experience designing and supporting switch gear lineups, switchboards, breakers, and transformers
• Deep knowledge of protection relays, protective coordination studies, and short-circuit analysis
• Ability to develop, review, and interpret one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and equipment layouts
• Experience with transfer schemes, bus configurations, and breaker coordination
• Background supporting projects through design, manufacturing, FAT, SAT, and commissioning
• Strong troubleshooting experience with real-world power systems
• Experience leading technical discussions and serving as a subject matter expert
• Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, field service, and customers
• Ability to pass background checks and comply with drug-free workplace requirements
Plusses:
• Data center critical power experience
• Siemens protective relay experience
• Experience with PLC-controlled transfer schemes
• PLC and SCADA system exposure
• Experience with UL 891 and UL 1558 switchboards
• Knowledge of IEEE, NEC, and UL standards
• Power meters and system monitoring experience
• Power quality analysis and infrared inspection experience
• EPLAN experience
• Utility, industrial power, automotive, Caterpillar, or heavy industrial power background
• Leadership or team management experience
Day-to-Day:
• Lead the design and application of low- and medium-voltage switch gear systems
• Develop and review one-line diagrams, system architectures, and equipment layouts
• Define and validate bus configurations, breaker arrangements, and transfer schemes
• Configure, program, and troubleshoot protective relays (Siemens preferred)
• Support and execute commissioning activities, system validation, and troubleshooting
• Review customer specifications and ensure compliance with design requirements
• Provide technical guidance to manufacturing, field service, and project teams
• Serve as the switch gear and power systems SME across engineering and field organizations
• Participate in customer design reviews and technical discussions
• Develop engineering standards, best practices, and technical documentation
• Provide on-call technical support when required
