Nuclear Medicine Technologist Per Diem Hackettstown

Job Description

Responsible for preparing and rendering radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies, utilizing variety of equipment while following prescribed procedures.

• Mixes stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses, and administers doses, under direction of physician.
• Calibrates equipment.
• Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film.
• Measures radioactivity, using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors.
• Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician.
• Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.
• Other duties as assigned.

• HS Diploma or equivalent experience.
• Graduate of AMA approved school of Nuclear Medicine required.
• Employment history of working in an office-based setting is preferred.
• Specific certification related to position or associates degree/technical degree in related field. All licenses and certifications needed to fulfill the duties required of a technician at the state(s) and/or national level.
• Current license with the NJDEP in nuclear medicine.
• Registration or certification by ARRT, NMTCB, or CAMRT.
