Radiation Therapist
Location:
Hackettstown, NJ Duration: 13 Weeks (Possibility of Extension) Schedule Notes: 7:30am-3:30pm or 8am
-4pm Monday through Friday. Pay Rate: $60/HR ON W2 Duties
- Accurately delivers the planned course of radiation therapy while correctly operating the treatment units with minimal supervision.
- Maintains visual and audible communication with the patient during treatment. Responsible for performing daily linac and CT QA as well as monthly CT QA.
- Accurately performs IGRT, SBRT treatment, and portal imaging.
- Accurately CT/Simulates patients for radiation therapy following department and site specific protocols. Properly constructs immobilization devices as needed.
- Understands and is able to use IV contrast for simulation when needed. Accurately performs respiratory gating and ACQ sim.
- Understands and knows how to use simulation equipment for SBRT treatment.
- Constructs electron and cerrobend blocks when needed. Is able to properly bill for special devices and simulation procedure.
- Accurately completes the procedure verification assessment in MOSAIQ prior to the start of simulation.
- LEAD CT THERAPIST Accurately CT/Simulates patients as in is responsible for training all therapists in CT/Simulation which includes AcQ simulation, respiratory gating, CT and laplaser QA, mould room duties and SBRT simulation.
- Also makes sure all necessary forms required for completion by physicians are downloaded and ready for physician completion.
- Maintains and verifies all aspects of MOSAIQ for daily treatment management, i.
E. treatment calendar, patients schedules, prescription, photos, DRR's and portal imaging. - Verifies all physics and physician treatment planning parameters.
- Attends weekly chart rounds and has the ability to access Client Kesson for inpatient transportation.
- Is able to send and review information as needed in the Quality Check List.
- Follows all department policies and procedures and adheres to the department dress code.
- Follows all safety standards.
- Utilizes correct body mechanics procedure and equipment such as slide board and ceiling lift.
- Practices the ALARA principle for radiation protection for patients and staff.
- Responsible for current knowledge of all emergency procedures for the department as well as each piece of treatment equipment.
- Reports any malfunctions of equipment in relation to patients treatment to physician, lead therapist, manager, and physicist.
- Is able to safely operate CT on rails for IGRT delivery and can accurately perform IGRT on all sites.
- Understands how to electronically create IGRT document and shift tracking assessment in MOSAIQ.
- Maintains records of daily treatment and other records as required.
- Checks prescription, set-up instructions, and patient information daily in the chart and in the record and verify system.
- Accurately records the daily treatment plan monitor units in the chart for each treatment.
- Recognizes any changes in a treatment plan and consequently implements and documents the change.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of an approved course in Radiation Therapy.
- ARRT certified and registered.
- NJ state Radiology license.
