Responsible for preparing and rendering radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic and therapeutic studies, utilizing a variety of equipment while following prescribed procedures.
Principal Accountabilities- Mixes stock solutions of radiopharmaceutical materials, calculates doses, and administers doses under the direction of a physician.
- Calibrates equipment.
- Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by a physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce an image of an organ on photographic film.
- Measures radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors.
- Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under the direction of a physician.
- Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
