Job Description for Atlantic Health System (AHS) Security Officer 1

An AHS Security Officer 1 is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors in AHS healthcare facilities and corporate locations. This role involves monitoring the premises, preventing unauthorized access, responding to emergencies, and ensuring the enforcement of hospital policies and procedures related to safety and security.

• Patrol hospital buildings and grounds to deter and detect criminal activity, suspicious behavior, and unauthorized access.
• Monitor security cameras, alarms, and other surveillance equipment to ensure the safety of the premises.
• Secure entrances, exits, and restricted areas to prevent breaches or theft.
• Control pedestrian and vehicular traffic as needed.
• Perform all other duties as assigned, including working various 8‑ or 12‑hour shifts with holidays, being available for call‑back, completing mandatory training, and lifting 50 lbs. and standing for 4 hours at a time.
• Respond promptly to incidents, including AHS Security Assistance, AHS Medical Assistance, AHS Facility Alert Fire Emergency, and investigations of missing children or suspected infant abduction.
• Provide leadership during Active Shooter and Disaster or Emergency Situations.
• Verify the identity of visitors and vendors entering AHS Medical Centers, Corporate Locations, and Off‑Site Locations, and enforce policies regarding access to sensitive areas.
• Issue and manage Team Member badges and use the EZ Lobby and Rep Trex Computer Systems for vendor badge access.
• Provide directions and assistance to patients and visitors, maintain a professional demeanor, and respond to complaints or concerns.
• Prepare well‑written, detailed, and accurate incident reports using the IMC Computer database and maintain logs of daily activities.
• Maintain effective communication with all Team Members.
• Operate security technologies, including AHECN distribution, IMC Computer, Mutualink, Victor Video System, and ONYX Panel.
• Collaborate with hospital staff, law enforcement, and emergency services; participate in Iron Temple Response Control Techniques training and complete FEMA and IS incident command courses.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Certifications: FEMA IC 100/200/700 to be obtained within 60 days of hire.
• Licenses: Valid driver’s license with a driving record in compliance with AHS eligibility requirements.
• Experience: Security, law enforcement, and/or military experience is preferred.
