Pay & Benefits

Pay starts at $35.90 and rises after 90 days.

Basic Purpose

To provide a safe and reliable fleet by performing preventative maintenance and proper repairs on all fleet equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance within company standards.
  • Complete documentation of all repair orders, PM list and parts accountability.
  • Handle road service calls; perform road rescue/transport equipment as needed.
  • Keep track of assigned repairs by logging in and out of the software system.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with workplace safety rules and regulations and government guidelines.
  • Maintain inventory and proper recordkeeping.
  • Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
  • Willingness and capacity to assume increased responsibility and certifications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have 5 years of verifiable hands‑on experience as a heavy‑duty commercial diesel mechanic.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting ability using fleet maintenance software.
  • Successfully demonstrated independent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Must furnish own personal hand tools.
  • Ability to comply with EPA and OSHA regulations pertaining to the shop and fleet.
  • Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate with co‑workers and drivers with demonstrated teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
  • Computer and software experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
Qualifications
  • JPRO software experience.
  • Welding ability.
  • Knowledge with electrical schematics.
  • Basic Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
  • Leadership experience or qualifications.
  • Valid Class A CDL license and DOT certification.
  • EPA 608 (Type 2 or Universal) certification.
Physical Requirements

Work requires sitting occasionally, standing frequently, walking frequently, driving occasionally. Ability to lift: 1‑10 lbs continuously, 10‑20 lbs frequently, 25‑50 lbs occasionally, 50‑100 lbs occasionally, over 100 lbs may lift up to 120‑150 lbs (two‑man lift). Carry heavy items occasionally. Push/pull occasionally (transmissions, tires & clutches). Climb/balance occasionally (ladders, lift gates). Stoop/squat frequently. Kneel/bend occasionally. Bend frequently. Reach above shoulder occasionally.

Grasp objects frequently. Manipulate objects frequently. Twisting occasionally.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation depends on experience, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law. In New York, the expected compensation for this role is $35.90 – $39.90 per hour. This role is also eligible for overtime compensation. Benefits include health insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, employee stock purchase plan, and life insurance.
