About The Role
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Strategic Sourcing Specialist to support our Supply Chain team by processing purchase orders, coordinating with internal departments, and working closely with vendors to ensure accurate, timely purchasing. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys organization, problem-solving, and keeping operations running smoothly.
What You’ll Do- Process purchase requisitions and create purchase orders for supplies, equipment, and services
- Communicate with internal customers and vendors regarding orders, pricing, availability, and delivery timelines
- Verify accuracy of pricing, quantities, and purchase units before placing orders
- Track backorders and proactively resolve critical supply issues
- Utilize EDI systems (GHX or similar) to place orders and confirm pricing and availability
- Maintain and update inventory records, item files, and vendor databases
- Work with vendors and Accounts Payable to resolve invoicing and payment discrepancies
- Support inventory analysis to help determine appropriate stock levels
- Assist with Value Analysis Team (VAT) conversions as needed
- Obtain MSDS sheets for specialty items when required
- Deliver excellent customer service through timely follow-up and clear communication
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 2 years of purchasing experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Comfortable navigating online ordering systems and vendor portals
- Associate’s degree in Business Administration or a related field
- Experience working with EDI systems (GHX preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
