About Us: The B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore, MD, the recognized birthplace of American railroading, is a landmark destination. As one of the world’s most significant railroad museums, we offer engaging experiences that connect visitors to the rich story of America through the lens of the railroad.

We’re in a dynamic phase of growth, striving to be Fun, Interactive, Relevant, and Experiential (F.I.R.E.). Exciting times are ahead as we plan national and local celebrations for the American railroads’ 200th anniversary in 2027. We’re also undertaking a major campus renovation, developing an innovative workforce development program utilizing our 40-acre campus as a learning space, and expanding our educational initiatives, particularly for children with special needs.

Our Team as a Visitor Services Associate!
Summary

The B&O Railroad Museum is seeking an enthusiastic Visitor Services Associate to join our dynamic and dedicated team. The ideal candidate is customer service oriented, friendly, energetic, proactive, and responsible. This position is the “front line” of the museum in ensuring every guest to the museum has a great experience.

The primary goal of the Visitor Services team is to provide the highest levels of customer service, working at the admissions counter, the gift shop, and supporting the daily general operations of the museum and its programs.

We are hiring part-time positions at $16 per hour for weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Typical shifts are 7-8 hours per day, and schedules can be flexible.

Responsibilities
  • Create a welcoming and cheerful guest experience at every interaction with our guests
  • Support the Visitor Services team by being positive, professional, and collaborative
  • Work a register through a POS system following scripts and promoting events and promotions
  • Responsibly handle money
  • Assist visitors with finding gift shop items
  • Gift shop inventory and stocking
  • Working admissions, selling tickets, and selling memberships
  • Perform daily opening and closing procedures for the museum and exhibitions
  • Assist in producing and hosting events for the public, as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Provide excellent customer service and positive interactions within the team
  • Be courteous and customer-service oriented
  • Be punctual for all shifts
  • Be able to lift and move up to 30 lbs.
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Follow all museum employment policies and job duties, as assigned
Compensation

Pay:$16 / hour
