Grade 8 Step 1 with a starting hourly rate of $21.60. Potential future earnings for this position on the ESP Salary Scale are $21.60 - $39.08. Additional steps will only be considered for PreK-12 teaching experience under state-issued professional licensure.

Role Overview

The itinerant behavior support paraprofessional will provide behavioral interventions and support based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. This role will serve students across the county, based upon need. The paraprofessional in this role will primarily support school teams with the development and implementation of Tiered behavioral strategies including but not limited to direct support, modeling, coaching and feedback.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma/GED.

Highly Qualified status (A.A. Degree, 48 credit hours, or have successfully passed the Paraprofessional Praxis Test).

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification or the ability to obtain this RBT certification within one year of employment.

Ability to attain and maintain active certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Ukeru and any other methodology/technique required to support student de-escalation.

5-day TEACCH Training or the ability to complete this training within one year of employment.

Two (2) years' experience working with children or a combination of education and experience totaling two years.

Ability to document data as outlined in a student's Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP), BCBA, and/or school team and submit reports of student interventions.

Ability to adjust work hours to accommodate a change in school assignment to meet the needs of a student at any time during the school year.

Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.

Ability to lift between 30-50 pounds in specified situations.

Competency with fundamental reading, writing, arithmetic, and communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work harmoniously with staff, students, and community.

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to accept constructive feedback and develop knowledge and skill sets accordingly.

Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to interpret, implement and model/coach staff on individualized behavior intervention plans.

Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with students, co-workers, supervisors, and other school-based staff.

Commitment to ongoing training and development as it relates to, professional development, ethics,and technology to perform job responsibilities to required standards.

Specialized training in childcare, trauma informed care and/or behavior management.

AA degree in child development or related field.

Experience working with multiple computer software programs and platforms.

Role Responsibilities

Collect, record and summarize data on observable student behavior(s).

Assist BCBA in training for school-based staff specific to individualized behavior interventions and plans.

Assist BCBA in implementing behavioral programming for individual students associated with:

Measurement

Assessment

Skill acquisition

Behavior reduction

Documentation and reporting

Professional conduct and scope of practice

Assist BCBA and schools in the development and implementation of transition plans of students going and returning from more restrictive programming.

Assist in providing safe and supportive environments for all students

Assist with instructional activities.

Assist in maintaining classroom organization and structure.

Assist with the supervision of students during instructional and/or non-instructional activities.

Assist with physical care and physical management of students as needed and appropriate.

Maintain the same level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.

Maintain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.

Maintain Ukeru certification.

Maintain Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification.

Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.

Other duties as assigned.
