Position Overview
Paraprofessional Special Education Itinerant Adult Support – Williamsport Elementary School (Grade 6 Step
1). 7 Hours/Day, 10-Month Work Year. Starting hourly rate $19.26, potential future earnings $19.26 – $34.84 on the ESP Salary Scale. Additional 10% differential of the step one value. Reports to BCBA Coordinator. Employee benefits summary available.
Paraprofessional / Paraprofessional Special Education Itinerant Adult Support (Grant Funded).
LocationWilliamsport Elementary School.
Pay and HoursHourly rate $19.26 (Step
1). 7 hours per day, 10 months a year.
- Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic, behavioral, and social skills introduced by teachers.
- Observe and document behaviors to support data collection for student Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Document and submit data for progress monitoring and required reports.
- Assist teachers in devising special strategies for reinforcing skills and instruction.
- Operate and assist with classroom equipment.
- Supervise and manage assigned students during instructional and non-instructional activities.
- Respond to behavior crises, including verbal de-escalation and physical restraint/seclusion in emergencies.
- Assist with personal care and physical management of students as needed.
- Implement teacher-designed programs.
- Participate in team planning and training sessions as assigned.
- Display courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Highly Qualified status (A.A. Degree, 48 credit hours, or certification from the Paraprofessional Praxis Test).
- Active certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) and any other required methodology/technique.
- Two (2) years’ experience working with children or a combination of education and experience totaling two years.
- Ability to lift between 30–50 pounds in specified situations.
- Ability to document data as outlined in a student’s Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) and submit daily reports.
- Availability to adjust work hours to accommodate location changes during the school year.
- Competency in fundamental reading, writing, arithmetic, and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously with staff, students, and community.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Specialized training in child care, trauma-informed care and/or behavior management.
- AA degree in child development or related field.
- Experience with multiple computer software programs and platforms.
- Periods of sitting at a desk and using a computer and office equipment.
- Ability to move efficiently throughout the building for extended periods.
- Use of sensory skills to communicate and interact with others (vision, hearing, reading, speaking).
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Move, raise, lower, and carry objects up to 20 lbs. on an irregular basis.
- Bend, crouch, stoop, reach, and climb.
- Exposure to loud noises, traffic, and interactions in a highly populated office environment.
