Lunch Assistant – Fountain Rock Elementary School
Location:
Fountain Rock Elementary School, Washington County Public Schools
Hours:
Vary but no more than 2.25 hours/day, 10‑month work year (180 days)
Hourly Wage: $15.00 for the 2026‑2027 school year
Role OverviewUnder the direct supervision of the principal, provide supervision of students while eating lunch and during playground period.
Minimum Requirements- Demonstrated ability to work successfully with students and adults
- Ability to supervise students
- Regular and predictable attendance, which is an essential function of this position
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations
- Supervision and management of up to 90–100 students in the cafeteria
- Maintain a minimum noise level
- Ensure good table manners and discipline
- Address disturbances and react positively with students
- Distribute lunch condiments at the tables
- Help students with trays, opening thermos bottles, etc.
- Assist with dismissal – guide students in an orderly fashion from cafeteria to classroom
- Wipe tables after each group of students
- Supervision and management of 90–100 students on the playground
- Dismiss students in an orderly fashion from cafeteria or classroom to playground
- Help students organize playground games when needed
- Resolve minor student conflicts diplomatically
- Work cooperatively with others to foster a friendly work environment
- Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools
- Required prolonged periods of standing or walking
- Ability to move efficiently throughout building and grounds for extended periods
- Must use sensory skills to communicate and interact effectively (see ability to see, read, talk, hear)
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
- Ability to move, raise, lower, push, pull, and carry objects up to 20 lb. on an irregular basis
- Must be able to bend, crouch, stoop, reach, and climb
- Will be subjected to loud noises, food odors, temperature variations, interactions, crowded areas, and traffic flow associated with a highly populated environment
This is a temporary employment position not covered by the Negotiated Agreement and not entitled to the rights governed by the negotiated agreements. Temporary employees are paid on the hourly rate established at the time of their employment and are not guaranteed employment or any specific number of hours. Length of employment and hours are determined by the principal.
