Introduction
The Maryland Department of Labor is currently accepting applications from qualified candidates for an ABE/Adult Secondary Education Teacher position within the Division of Workforce Development and Adult Learning (DWDAL).

To create a classroom learning environment in which assigned inmate students make measurable progress toward identified educational goals as indicated by the successful completion of requirements for the Maryland Certificate of Achievement in Adult Literacy and Life Skills and/or Maryland High School Diploma.
Position Duties- Provide instruction in a variety of methods to include whole group, small group, and individualized instruction consistent with the approved curriculum.
- Plan and organize time, in advance, to provide for effective instruction.
- Use informal and formal assessment tools to provide reliable and valid appraisal of student skills achievement.
- Maintain and submit program and instructional records in an accurate and timely manner.
- Create a physical and interpersonal climate that is conducive to learning.
- Education:
Possession of appropriate educational credentials as determined by the Maryland State Board of Education. - Experience:
None.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of classroom teaching experience.
- Experience providing instructions to adult learners.
Teachers in State operated school programs are required to acquire and maintain certification to teach in the State of Maryland per Education Article, Section 6-101 of the Annotated Code and Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR) 13A.12.01.03B(2). Applicants recommended for appointment will be required to complete an Authorization and Verification of Credentials.
