One of our most challenging new fields is Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA), which combines the unique properties of superconductivity and quantum mechanics to develop radical new energy-efficient computing systems. The Test Platforms (TP) department is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our Integration and Test team to enable these high-performance computing systems. You’ll work on a fast-paced team in a lab environment alongside system integrators, design engineers, RF engineers, and test physicists to bring these technologies to life.

This position will serve on-site at Advanced Technological Laboratory (ATL) in Linthicum/ Annapolis Junction, MD.

What You’ll get to Do:

• Support the installation, integration, and testing of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and custom cryogenic system electrical equipment used to advance research efforts of superconducting microelectronic devices.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and remediate equipment issues to support system build-out and sell-off. Lead system hand-off to internal customers.
• Communicate project status to the Test Platforms (TP) Integration and Test (I&T) Capability Lead.
• Collaborate with research scientists and systems engineers to perform system architecture characterization studies on various system components.
• Design, develop, and implement testing methods for individual hardware (both custom and COTS) and entire systems.
• Compile data and help to define changes required in testing methodology, equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, and new testing requirements.
• Create performance requirements and test procedures to validate system performance.

This position is contingent upon an active DoD TS/SCI with poly clearance.

Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer:

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years of experience, a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience.
• This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI with poly clearance per business requirements.
• Working knowledge in one of the following languages: MATLAB, Python, C, or C++.
• Working knowledge of standard test equipment: network analyzers, oscilloscopes, waveform generators, synthesizers, digitizers, and/or signal analyzers.
• Working knowledge of RF cable networks.
• Working knowledge of standard electrical design components: filters, couplers, splitters, mixers, amplifiers, etc.
