The PositionAMEWAS is seeking a highly motivated and talented Subject Matter Expert (Tactical Operations and Air/Weapons SME)-Senior to support Battlespace Modeling & Simulation. Salary range: $125,000 – $175,000, commensurate with experience. Position requires on‑site work; remote not available.
LocationPatuxent River, MD. Located in the California‑Lexington Park area, Maryland’s #1 City for high‑tech hiring.
Position BackgroundThe Analysis, Debrief, and Test (ADT) Branch supports the development, integration, and testing of the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Technical Baseline (JTB) product suite and related simulation products. The software products comprise the JTB, supporting modeling and simulation environments, trainer systems, test and evaluation, analysis, live, virtual and constructive, research and development activities for DoD agencies and international partners. All products are government owned, developed and managed.
TypicalDay
- Develop EO, IR, Radar and/or IF sensor evaluation criteria, test methods and data analysis methods for simulations and test capabilities.
- Cover a variety of fidelity spectrums from simplistic effects‑based models to cutting‑edge real‑time physics simulation environments.
- Lead/execute verification, validation and/or accreditation efforts for radar, other electromagnetic sensor systems, EO/IR sensor systems, weapon models or simulations.
- Analyze performance data from simulated and live systems to facilitate comparisons between them.
- Inform leadership on the implications of any performance issues identified.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 12 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience working with EO/IR, radar, ESM and/or missile systems.
- Ability to generate, review and execute detailed test plans for verification and validation of aircraft EO/IR, radar, ESM and/or missile systems after software integration.
- Experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in aircraft EO/IR, radar, ESM, missile system design, capabilities, phenomenology and processing methods/strategies.
- Experience supporting technical decisions with well‑articulated assessments and data.
- Experience working with MS Office.
- Permission to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.
- Experience as a DoD Sensor Operator, Tactical Coordinator or similar role.
- Experience supporting testing.

Physical Environment and Working ConditionsWork in an office setting, sitting in a cubicle or at a desk, primarily looking at a computer. Employee may sit, walk, or stand as needed. Short travel to on‑site offices or conference rooms may be required; overnight travel only rarely.
