Job Description & How to Apply Below

Materials Technology Engineer specializing in Metallurgy and Failure Analysis

Are you a metallurgical detective who loves solving complex material puzzles? We are seeking a skilled Materials Technology Engineer specializing in Metallurgy and Failure Analysis to join our team. In this role, you will be the go-to expert for investigating why metal parts fail or underperform. Utilizing advanced diagnostic tools like SEM, EDS, and optical microscopy, you will uncover the root causes of material failures—ranging from fracture and corrosion to design flaws—and drive the corrective actions that prevent them from happening again.

If you have a passion for materials science, a sharp analytical mind, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable engineering solutions, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Root Cause Analysis:
Examine failed components (including fracture surfaces, corrosion products, and microstructures) using advanced fractography and metallographic techniques to determine exact failure origins and mechanisms (e.g., fatigue, creep, stress corrosion cracking).
  • Testing & Validation:
Design and execute both destructive (tensile, hardness) and non‑destructive (NDT) testing protocols to replicate failures, evaluate material properties, and validate performance.
  • Data Interpretation:
Analyze complex test results, chemical data, and microscopic images to deeply understand material behavior and degradation modes.
  • Reporting & Communication:
Author comprehensive, high‑quality technical reports and present clear, evidence‑based findings to engineering, quality, and executive management teams.
  • Cross‑Functional

    Collaboration:

Partner with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to recommend material changes, design optimizations, or process improvements that enhance overall product reliability.
Education

Master’s or Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a closely related engineering discipline (or equivalent extensive industry experience).

Metallurgical Expertise

Deep, foundational knowledge of phase transformations, alloy behavior, fracture mechanics, corrosion mechanisms, and high‑temperature material properties.

Analytical Tool Proficiency

Hands‑on experience operating SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy), EDS (Energy‑Dispersive X‑ray Spectroscopy), optical microscopes, and hardness/tensile testing equipment.

Problem‑Solving Mindset

Exceptional analytical skills, rigorous attention to detail, and a proven track record of solving multi‑layered material engineering challenges.

Technical Communication

Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex scientific data into clear, actionable insights for non‑technical stakeholders.
