Job Description & How to Apply Below
Do you enjoy collaborating with others to create innovative, mission-driven aerospace solutions? As a Manufacturing Engineer II at SNC, you'll help shape how our next generation of airborne intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (A-ISR) systems are built-supporting platforms like our digitally born, MBSE-engineered RAPCON-X. You will take an active role in defining and optimizing manufacturability, applying your expertise in DFM/DFA, tooling design, and process engineering to ensure ISR aircraft modifications, avionics integration, and mission-system installations are executed with precision, efficiency, and consistency.

This is a hands-on opportunity to influence production flow, build quality, and manufacturability across the Mission Solutions & Technologies (MST) portfolio.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains - air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain detailed work instructions and process documentation supporting the production and integration of avionics, sensors, wiring, and mission-system hardware for Next-Gen ISR aircraft.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for new A-ISR products and modifications, ensuring designs translate smoothly into repeatable, high-quality production.
  • Collaborate with design, quality, and systems engineering teams to ensure ISR components-such as sensor racks, mission equipment, harness assemblies, and structural mods-are manufacturable, certifiable, and built to the highest standards. Design and implement production tooling and fixtures that enable precise installation, alignment, and assembly of mission-critical aircraft components.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues affecting aircraft modification, mission-system integration, or avionics installation.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to streamline build flow, reduce waste, and elevate production throughput for ISR aircraft programs.
  • Develop and optimize production flows, workstation layouts, and material-handling plans that support efficient aircraft modification and mission-system integration.
  • Partner closely with shop floor technicians and cross-functional teams from concept through implementation-an expectation consistently seen in similar MEC II roles.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering (an advanced degree may substitute for experience).
  • Proficiency with CAD software and the creation of process documentation.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles, manufacturability, and production processes.
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary teams supporting complex aerospace or mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a United States Secret Security Clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher).
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing technologies such as additive manufacturing, CNC machining, or rapid-prototype tooling used in aerospace integration.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense industry, particularly in aircraft modification, avionics integration, or mission-system production.
  • Familiarity applying and interpreting GD&T (ASME Y14.5) for avionics hardware, brackets, racks, and airframe installation features.
  • Knowledge of modern design and manufacturing principles including parametric modeling, model-based definition (MBD), material selection, and process optimization.
  • Experience supporting traveler development, shop floor coordination, and non-conformance dispositions (MRB participation)-capabilities that mirror expectations from prior MEC II roles.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) or transition-to-production efforts for aerospace systems.
  • Exposure to PLM, MES, and MRP systems, consistent with MSC/PLM/MES requirements seen in internal MEC II postings.
Essential Functions
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
This posting will be open for application for a minimum of 5 days and may be extended based on business needs.
