Avionics Technician

The Avionics Technician performs complex military ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) modifications on a variety of aircraft, including platforms such as C-12 and Bombardier Global. This role focuses on wire harness fabrication, installation, and integration of advanced avionics and mission systems, while providing total system solutions for aircraft modification, maintenance, mission equipment integration, operations, and contractor logistics support. The technician repairs, maintains, and installs navigation, radio communication, weather radar, and other flight- and engine-control instruments and computers, ensuring safe and reliable aircraft operation.

• Perform military ISR modifications on multiple aircraft types, including C-12 and Bombardier Global models.
• Fabricate, route, and install wire harnesses and cabling to support new avionics and mission system integrations on aircraft.
• Integrate primary mission equipment and avionics systems into existing aircraft architectures, ensuring proper functionality and compatibility.
• Repair, maintain, and install systems used for aircraft navigation, radio communications, weather radar, and other flight and engine control instruments and computers.
• Conduct detailed inspections of avionics and electrical systems, identify deficiencies, and perform adjustments, repairs, and component replacements as required.
• Troubleshoot and correct malfunctions or deficiencies in aircraft systems with and without power applied, using appropriate test equipment and diagnostic techniques.
• Terminate and assemble a wide range of connector types, including COAX, CIR-MIL, RJ-45 network connectors, and D-SUB connectors, in accordance with specifications.
• Perform ring-out and functional testing of harnesses and integrated systems to verify proper installation, continuity, and performance.
• Support heavy aircraft modifications and avionics installations, including structural and systems-related changes necessary for mission upgrades.
• Maintain tools in an etched and shadowed condition to support accountability and efficient work practices.
• Work flexible shifts and overtime as needed to meet project schedules and operational requirements.

• At least 5 years of aircraft modification experience, including wire harness fabrication and installation.
• Hands-on proficiency with harness assembly, routing, connector termination, ring-out, and functional testing in an aircraft environment.
• Strong experience with aircraft wire harness fabrication and avionics installation on modified aircraft.
• Demonstrated ability to terminate COAX connectors for RF and communication systems.
• Demonstrated ability to terminate CIR-MIL connectors used in military and aerospace applications.
• Demonstrated ability to terminate RJ-45 network connectors for data and communication networks.
• Demonstrated ability to terminate D-SUB connectors for avionics and control systems.
• Experience working in MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) facilities, preferably in a Part 145 repair station environment.
• Ability to perform aircraft maintenance and modifications in accordance with technical data, SOPs, and FAA guidelines.
• Solid understanding of avionics systems, aircraft electrical systems, and mission equipment integration.
• Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet strict timelines.
• Strong attention to detail and quality in fabrication, installation, and testing activities.
• Proficient use of standard aircraft and avionics tools and equipment.

• Experience providing total system solutions for aircraft modification, maintenance, and mission equipment integration.
• Familiarity with contractor logistics support for modified and miss ionized aircraft.
• Experience performing inspections and maintenance with and without power applied to aircraft systems.
• Comfort working extended hours, including 10-hour days and weekends, as project demands require.
• History of completing longer-term assignments and contracts, demonstrating commitment and reliability.
• Tools that are etched and shadowed for proper identification and organization.
• Ability to follow detailed work orders and technical instructions with minimal supervision.
