NPD Engineering Intern; Booms

As a Mechanical Engineer Intern with JLG you will have the opportunity to work with some of the most talented and skilled Engineers in the industry. In this role you will work on a variety of key projects and initiatives ranging from simple tasks to more complex analytical projects on the NPD Booms team.

YOUR IMPACT Design, model and test new mechanical systems that integrate with JLG Access Equipment.

Research and execute on continuous improvement request (CIR’s) to support manufacturing, supply chain, and customer feedback/operations.

Work with global engineering resources to prepare/revise/review vehicle component layouts using CAD (i.e. Creo Parametric)
Create and manage ECN’s (Engineering Change Notices) using the PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system.

Update bill of materials in the PDM (Product Data Management) system to reflect product changes.

Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build and provide technical assistance.

Generate engineering calculations of weight distribution, stress analysis, performance estimations, etc.

Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to find solutions to problems.

Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles or vehicle components.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Student working towards a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or other related engineering field.

Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS Good oral and written communication skills.

Previous internship experience or work-related experience.

Previous experience or heightened interest in mechanical design.

Experience in extracurricular activities outside academic requirements (SAE teams, etc..)Experience using Creo Parametric, Pro-E (highly preferred), CATIA or a similar CAD system is a plus.

Understanding of basic steel and sheet metal fabrication principles

Knowledge of construction industry and equipment used.

Strong mechanical aptitude WORKING CONDITIONS The following represents general working conditions for this office-based role. Specific conditions may vary depending on business needs and individual circumstances.

This role is primarily performed in a professional office environment with standard lighting, ventilation, and temperature-controlled settings.

Duties are largely sedentary, requiring extended periods of sitting and using a computer and telephone.

Visual acuity to operate a computer and read documents is required, along with auditory ability to participate in virtual and in-person meetings.

Occasional movement within the office environment is necessary, including walking short distances, standing, or reaching for files.

Pay Range:$18.00 - $37.00
