Position OverviewAs an Alcohol and Drug Trainee, you will provide counseling, intervention, treatment, and rehabilitation services to incarcerated individuals with substance use disorder(s). You will deliver services individually and in groups, maintain records, and coordinate care with internal and external resources.
Position Duties- Assess incarcerated individuals using the TAP to identify those needing substance use disorder treatment. Score and record TAP results on the Screening Assessment Result form and provide results to case management.
- Provide individualized substance use disorder treatment twice monthly and two group sessions a week for two groups of approximately 15 members.
- Facilitate one aftercare services group weekly and document all group and individual notes, including treatment plans and discharge summaries in incarcerated individual files.
- Maintain contact with community‑based addiction providers to support aftercare services and provide support to the Peer Recovery Specialist Training Program.
- Participate in continued professional development through educational training and complete monthly statistics on substance use disorder treatment activities.

- Education:
Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for an Alcohol & Drug Trainee. - Experience:
None.
- Apply for and receive a letter of authorization to practice as a trainee from the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists within 90 days of hire.
- Obtain certification as a Certified Supervised Counselor within one year of meeting the experience requirement for a Certified Supervised Counselor.
- Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license if assigned duties requiring operation of a motor vehicle.
