The Interim Hospital Laboratory Director joins a regional medical center with mission-driven governance and Joint Commission accreditation and will help advance modernization efforts, strengthen clinician collaboration, and enhance turnaround times.

The Interim Hospital Laboratory Director reports to upper leadership and oversees the Lab Manager and Supervisors. The position partners closely with Pathology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Infection Prevention, Supply Chain, and IT to align quality, service, and cost stewardship. The Interim Hospital Laboratory Director leads a full diagnostic service line and will guide a professional, team-oriented operation with engaged MLS/MLT staff, phlebotomy, and specimen processing teams, collaborating with experienced pathologists and technical specialists.

The Interim Hospital Laboratory Director will elevate clinical quality through education, mentoring, method validation, proficiency testing, and readiness for CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission, and state surveys 🔬. Additionally, the role will drive budgeting, staffing models, vendor partnerships, and workflow improvements that enhance turnaround times and patient safety.

Qualifications include a BS in Medical Technology, Biology, or Chemistry (Master’s or business degree preferred), ASCP MT/MLS, several years' experience in the lab and in leadership, demonstrated lab growth experience, and deep regulatory knowledge.
