About The Role
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our Total Rehab Care team. Under the direction and supervision of licensed Physical Therapists, you will provide hands-on treatment and follow-up care to patients across the lifespan—from newborns to geriatric populations. Your work will play a critical role in helping patients achieve their highest possible level of function and independence.
This position is ideal for a PTA who values teamwork, patient-centered care, and professional growth within a collaborative rehab environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in accordance with the Physical Therapist’s established plan of care and Maryland licensure guidelines
- Administer therapeutic interventions, monitor patient status, and report changes requiring reassessment
- Collect objective data and document patient progress accurately and timely
- Assist with discharge planning, referrals, and coordination of continuing care
- Educate patients and caregivers on treatment plans, exercises, and equipment use
- Collaborate with Physical Therapists, physicians, and interdisciplinary rehab team members
- Participate in case conferences and team meetings
- Supervise and mentor aides, students, observers, and volunteers as assigned
- Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program
- Associate of Arts degree required
- Active Maryland Physical Therapy Assistant license or temporary Maryland license pending state board examination or reciprocity
- Current BLS/CPR certification required
- No prior clinical experience required beyond educational training
- Ability to perform all job functions independently after initial orientation period
- Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to learn and use electronic medical records and point-of-care documentation systems
- Comfortable working with diverse patient populations and care needs
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, pull, and assist patients throughout the workday
- May be required to lift or transfer patients and equipment
- Exposure to blood and bodily fluids and typical healthcare clinical environments
- Work with a supportive and experienced rehab team
