We’re seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in Annapolis Junction, MD
. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in supporting and evolving our enterprise network infrastructure—designing and implementing system‑level network architectures, enforcing security boundaries, and supporting datacenter virtualization. You must have deep expertise in CAN/MAN/LAN environments, packet capture and analysis tools, and a strong command of the TCP/IP protocol stack, routing and switching protocols, stateful firewalls, and L3/L4 access control mechanisms.
- Cisco IOS, CatOS, NxOS, filter and access control, Cisco Works, TACACS+, ASA, FWSM, HP Openview, Cisco routers, Cisco Switches, F5/Cisco load balancers, Infiniband, Juniper, Fiber Channel (FC) SAN, and VPN (IPSEC)
- Physical installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of network routers, switches, load balancers and security devices.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP stack and routing/switching protocols.
- Strong working knowledge of L2/L3 protocols and stateful firewalls, and L3 access controls.
- Working knowledge of Atlassian Tool Suite.
- Able to support on‑call requirements and work in a live call environment, utilizing Remedy or other ticketing system to track tasks.
- Experience with virtualization products; VMware and Solaris containers.
- At least five (5) years of experience as a Network Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional Network Engineer experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree for a total of 10 years experience.
- Must have datacenter network design and architecture experience, including installation and configuration of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and IPSEC virtual private networks.
- Strong understanding of High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
- Hands‑on experience with Infiniband and low‑latency interconnects in HPC clusters.
- Familiarity with RDMA, QoS tuning, and network fabric optimization for compute‑intensive workloads.
- Working knowledge of Fiber Channel (FC) SAN, iSCSI, and data throughput tuning.
- Experience integrating storage networks with HPC compute nodes.
A current government clearance, background investigation, and polygraph are required.
