The People Experience and Technology Central Science (PXTCS) team uses economics, behavioral science, statistics, and machine learning to proactively identify mechanisms and process improvements that improve Amazon and the well‑being of its employees. PXTCS seeks an economist to apply economic methods to business problems. The role involves working with engineers and computer scientists to estimate models and algorithms on large‑scale data, design pilots, measure impact, and transform prototypes into policies and programs at scale.

• Design and conduct rigorous evaluations of benefits programs.
• Support development and application of structural models.
• Develop experiments to evaluate impact of benefits initiatives.
• Communicate complex findings to business stakeholders in clear, actionable terms.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to develop scalable tools that automate and streamline evaluation processes.

• PhD in economics or equivalent.
• 2+ years of industry, consulting, government, or academic research experience.
• Knowledge of at least one statistical software package such as R, Stata, Matlab, or SAS.
• Experience handling large datasets.

Amazon offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, parental leave, and more. Salary for this position ranges from $157,300 to $212,800 USD annually depending on location. Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
