Job Description Job Summary
The Computer Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of computer systems, hardware, and software within the organization. The role involves troubleshooting technical issues, providing support to end-users, and ensuring the smooth operation of IT infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities Hardware and Software Support- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software systems.
- Perform regular updates and patches on software applications and operating systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues promptly.
- Assist in the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network hardware and software.
- Monitor network performance and security.
- Support network connectivity issues and ensure efficient operation of network resources.
- Provide technical support to end-users via phone, email, or in-person.
- Diagnose and resolve user issues related to computer systems, applications, and network access.
- Conduct training sessions and create documentation to help users understand IT systems and policies.
- Perform regular backups and ensure data integrity.
- Monitor system performance and implement necessary upgrades or repairs.
- Maintain and manage inventory of IT equipment and software licenses.
- Implement and enforce security protocols to safeguard organizational data.
- Monitor for potential security threats and respond to incidents as needed.
- Assist in the management of user accounts and permissions.
- Maintain accurate records of system configurations, updates, and repairs.
- Prepare reports on system performance, user issues, and security incidents.
- Document troubleshooting processes and solutions for future reference.
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) are a plus.
- Previous experience in a computer support or IT technician role is desirable.
- Hands-on experience with various operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and hardware components.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Familiarity with networking concepts and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing computer hardware issues.
- Understanding of software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of network protocols and configuration.
