Role Description

Role SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Solution Architect – Technical Publications to lead the design, implementation, and transformation of enterprise Technical Publications ecosystems. The role will be responsible for defining information architectures, content reuse strategies, publishing frameworks, and service information solutions using industry-leading platforms such as PTC Arbortext
, Arbortext Content Delivery (ACD), and structured authoring standards. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in technical documentation, service information management, parts catalog solutions, and digital publishing architectures, with the ability to align business requirements with scalable and reusable content solutions. The role aligns with Technical Publications solution offerings, structured content management, standards compliance, publishing automation, and AI-enabled documentation initiatives.
- Define and govern a Common Information Architecture (CIA) across multiple product lines and business units.
- Establish content models, metadata frameworks, taxonomy structures, and information standards.
- Design and implement scalable topic-based authoring frameworks to support content reuse and modular documentation.
- Develop and maintain content governance processes and publishing standards.
- Architect enterprise Technical Publications solutions leveraging structured authoring and content management technologies.
- Define end-to-end content lifecycle workflows covering authoring, review, approval, translation, publishing, and delivery.
- Create high-level and detailed architecture documentation, solution blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Lead implementation and optimization of:
- Arbortext Editor
- Arbortext Publishing Engine (PE)
- Arbortext Content Delivery (ACD)
- XML/DITA/S1000D based publishing solutions
- Design and maintain publishing workflows, automation frameworks, and multi-channel publishing outputs.
- Develop and manage style sheets, templates, FOSI/XSL-FO configurations, and publishing customizations.
- Define topic structures and document architecture standards.
- Establish content reuse methodologies using:
- Conditional text
- Variable content
- Content references
- Shared modules
- Product variants
- Drive documentation standardization and reduction of duplicate content.
- Design and implement Service Information Management solutions.
- Lead integration of engineering and service information systems.
- Support SIM processes including:
- EBOM to SBOM transformation
- Service Parts Catalog creation
- Parts list generation
- Technical illustrations integration
- Service documentation synchronization
- Ensure accurate linkage between product structures, parts information, illustrations, and service procedures.
- Evaluate emerging technologies including AI-enabled documentation solutions.
- Drive automation initiatives for content migration, document conversion, content generation, and publishing optimization.
- Lead proof-of-concepts (POCs) and technology evaluations.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Aftermarket, Service, Manufacturing, Product Management, and IT teams.
- Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical leadership to development and documentation teams.
- Support customer workshops, solution demonstrations, RFPs, and consulting engagements.

- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Experience leading cross-functional and globally distributed teams.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- PTC Arbortext certifications preferred.
- Experience with PLM systems such as Windchill.
- Exposure to AI/GenAI applications in Technical Publications.
10+ years of experience in Technical Publications, with at least 5 years in Solution Architecture or Lead Consultant roles
