Make a real impact by supporting a vibrant and engaged high school student as a Sign Language Interpreter in a stimulating educational setting. This full-time contract position places you in an exciting environment where your expertise will empower communication, facilitate inclusion, and ensure academic success.

You will work closely with a dynamic high schooler, who participates in football and maintains an active presence both in and outside the classroom. Enjoy a consistent schedule of approximately 37.5 hours per week, from 8 AM to 3:30 PM, making a difference each school day.

Qualifications:
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpreting skills
  • Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, especially in educational or youth-centered environments
  • Knowledge of high school subject matter and classroom routines
  • Ability to adapt communication style to accommodate an energetic student and varying classroom dynamics
  • Professionalism, dependability, and discretion
  • National certification (e.g., EIPA, RID) preferred
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide real-time interpretation between spoken English and ASL for a high school student across academic classes, school activities, and athletic involvement
  • Collaborate with educators, support staff, and coaches to optimize accessibility and communication
  • Adapt interpreting methods for classroom lectures, group projects, one-on-one instruction, and extracurricular events
  • Encourage the students participation while fostering independence and advocacy skills
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional conduct standards at all times
