REPORTS TO: Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting Manager (Airport Fire Chief)
GENERALDEFINITIONOFWORK:
Perform responsibleprotectiveservice workinfire suppression and rescue services in emergency situations and skilled and semi-skilled work in maintenance of the airportgroundsand Terminalfacility alongwithservice asan Airline Grounds Operations Agent insupportofscheduled flights. Direction isprovidedbythe
Airport Fire Rescue and Firefighting Manager (Airport Fire Chief) and the Airline Station Leader.
ESSENTIALFINCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:

Respond toemergencyfire andmedicalsituations.
Providefiresuppression and related rescue,entry, ventilation, salvage, emergency medical and hazardous materials containment services.ConductsroutineARFFvehiclereadinessandequipmentinventorychecks.Conductairfieldsafetyinspections.Conductdailyinteriorandperimetersecuritychecks.Maintains emergency servicesandairfieldoperational proficiencybyattendingFAA and DODtraining classes.Performnormalcare-taking dutiesto includegeneralcleaning andmaintenanceoftheairportterminalas well as general exterior light maintenance including mowing and snow removal.Assist withairlinegroundhandlingoperations (includingbutnotlimitedto: baggageloading/unloading, marshalling aircraft in/out of gate area, deicing, servicing as a designated ramp observer, etc.)Workasneeded,and working on-site“after-hours”,respondingtointercom calls fromusersoftheterminal, parking lot to answer questions, collect payment with handheld point of sale device and/or generally resolve difficulties.PerformrelatedtasksasrequiredKNOWLEDGE,SKILLSANDABILITIES:
Generalknowledgeof the principles,methods, toolsandtechniquesusedinairportfirefightingand emergency situations.Knowledgeofthecommonpractices,toolsandterminologyusedinmaintainingfacilities.Mustbepleasantandabletocomplete taskseffectivelyandsafely while workinginallvarietiesofweather, including severe weather.Ability toapplyanychemicalsusedwithin and outsideoftheterminal,along withthe useofequipment like grooming equipment and snow blower.Abilitytobeself-motivated and workeffectivelywhileconductingoneselfprofessionallyaroundother associates and the general public.EDUCATION AND
EXPERIENCE:High School Diploma orGED.Universityof Marylandorequivalent Firefighterlevel II.Universityof Marylandorequivalent Airport Firefightercertificationdesirablebutnotrequired .Currentlive-burncertificateisdesirable.Marylandcertified Emergency Medical Technician .National Safety Councilor Universityof Marylandorequivalent Emergency Vehicle Operators Course .Universityof Marylandorequivalenthazardous Materials Operationscourse .Universityof Marylandorequivalent Pump Operatorscourse .Minimumoftwo-(2) yearsfirefightingexperiencewithacareerorvolunteerfiredepartment.NIMScertificationsshouldbesubmittedforevaluation.Applicantshouldhaveworkingknowledgeofairportoperations.Minimumthreeyears’experienceintheoperationofemergencyvehicles.Airlinegroundhandlingexperienceisdesirable.Acomparableamountoftrainingandexperiencemaybesubstitutedfortheminimumqualifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
