Automation & Mechatronics Engineer, Systems Engineer
This Warehouse Automation SME position can be responsible the installation, deployment, and ongoing maintenance/training of new warehouse automation technologies and support ongoing optimization opportunities.
This role will work directly with internal operations, solution design, continuous improvement, and information technology to support the deployment of new and ongoing support of existing technology with automation partners.
Responsibilities- Responsible for troubleshooting, and improving on all interfaces of the WMS, material handling systems, RF devices, and other hardware (printers, label makers, etc.).
- Work with operations to streamline processes through continuous improvement efforts as well as, leading troubleshooting activities, and correcting system issues.
- Owner of automation training in the use of hardware and software to users of the systems. Ensure associates are continually trained as new strategies are implemented, or as needed based on individual observation and/or metrics dictate.
- Maintain proper slotting configuration (Rack and Pick slots) to ensure efficiency in the warehouse.
- Assist with troubleshooting and repair of warehouse automation systems to include: conveyor systems, auto storage and retrieval systems, auto guided vehicles, and other electrical and control systems in the facility.
- Assist on P1/System Outages related to automation and coordinate escalation with the vendor.
- Assist or lead root cause and failure analysis on major equipment downtime events with site engineering and management and implement corrective actions to mitigate/prevent events from reoccurrence.
- Ensure a clean and organized maintenance area. Facility is always tour ready.
- Participate in the ongoing development and improvement of automation operations policies and procedures, and other standard operating procedures for the facility.
- Support vendor communication for minor projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- 1 or more years of experience with Grey Orange
- 1 year or more Experience in a warehouse environment working with WMS Required
- Strong troubleshooting skills for system-level issues across network, database, and application layers.
- Strong planning, time management, collaboration, decision making, organization and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Intermediate knowledge of all available material handling equipment and automation types such as forklift applications, racking designs, packaging devices and automation design.
- Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or with equivalent warehouse operational knowledge.
- Knowledge of Warehouse Management operations, data analytics, Industrial Engineering, warehouse types (ambient, temp control) and Lean methods.
- 2 years or more experience in warehouse automation, material handling technologies, industrial engineering or warehouse systems integration
- 1 year or more Experience in warehouse automation that would preferably include some of the following: sortation conveyor, goods-to-person, autonomous vehicles/robots, ASRS’s
