Position: REGISTERED NURSE / NIGHT SHIFT - FULL TIME

RN Night Shift 10:45pm - 7:15am

Full Time Position – 32 hours per week (Monday – Friday with alternating weekends)

Pay Range: $35.00 – $43.00 per hour + generous shift differentials.

SUMMARY

Provide the highest quality nursing care to residents following Fahrney‑Keedy’s policies and procedures, supervise day‑to‑day nursing activities, and monitor CMAs and GNAs to ensure resident care meets federal, state, and local standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct resident rounds at shift start and end.
  • Perform admission and re‑admission assessments.
  • Consult with resident physicians regarding care, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Create and maintain a warm, positive, and calm environment on the unit.
  • Report resident complaints and grievances immediately.
  • Participate in morning nursing reports.
  • Follow exposure risk policies for blood and body fluids.
  • Review resident records for orders, medication, diet, and treatment plans.
  • Interpret lab reports and notify physicians of results.
  • Notify physicians and families of resident accidents, incidents, or changes in condition.
  • Administer professional services: med administration, catheterization, tube feeding, suctioning, dressing changes, colostomy care, enemas, oxygen/respiratory treatments, and other procedures.
  • Obtain specimens for lab tests as ordered.
  • Monitor seriously ill residents and assess skin breakdown, preventing and treating decubitus ulcers.
  • Ensure GNA and CMA provide direct care per care plans.
  • Meet with residents and families and communicate death notifications, funeral arrangements, and postmortem care.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation: charting nurses’ notes, medication administration records, treatment notes, incident reports, and insurance forms.
  • Report work‑related injuries, exposures, and fraud incidents.
  • Participate in staff performance evaluations and develop rapport with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Support emergency preparedness, fire safety drills, and fall‑risk management.
  • Enforce infection control policies, hand hygiene, and protective equipment use.
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY

As an LPN/RN, you hold delegated administrative authority, responsibilities, and accountability for assigned duties.

EMPLOYMENT AT WILL

Employment with Fahrney‑Keedy is at-will. Either party may terminate the employment relationship at any time without notice.

Employees must keep all resident information, including protected health information, confidential and must not disclose it without written consent.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • Work throughout the facility with frequent interruptions.
  • Interact with hostile and emotionally upset residents, families, and visitors.
  • Work beyond normal hours, on weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals, infectious waste, and risks of falls, burns, and air contaminants.
  • Attend educational programs and participate in safety drills.
RESIDENT RIGHTS
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident care information.
  • Treat residents with kindness, dignity, and respect.
  • Provide care in privacy.
  • Knock and wait for permission to enter resident rooms.
  • Report grievances, abuse, and misappropriation to appropriate authorities.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
  • Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Knowledge of nursing practices appropriate for age‑related needs.
  • Team‑player with independent decision‑making ability.
  • Ability to handle interpersonal relations tactfully.
  • Patience, cheerfulness, and willingness to manage challenging residents.
  • Open to new methods and willing to incorporate them.
  • No direct threat to workplace safety and health.
EDUCATION
  • High School Diploma or GED and completion of an approved nursing program.
PRIOR/RELATED EXPERIENCE
  • LPN licensed in Maryland.
  • RN licensed in Maryland.
PHYSICAL & SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
  • Move intermittently throughout the day, push/pull/lift up to 5 feet and 50 feet.
  • Good hearing and vision, with or without prosthetics.
  • Handle mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Meet general health requirements including medical examination.
  • Capable of assisting in resident evacuations during emergencies.
