Location: MDH, Carroll County Health Department, Westminster, MD 21157
This position is limited to current Maryland State employees only.
Main Purpose of JobThe main purpose of this position is to provide supervisory-level oversight for planning, developing, implementing and evaluating the Family Health Program at the Carroll County Health Department. This position will supervise the communicable disease, infants and toddlers, lead surveillance, perinatal hepatitis B, child fatality review and perinatal care coordination program areas.
Minimum Qualifications- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
- Experience: Two years as a Community Health Nurse plus one year of additional experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity as a Registered Nurse.
Notes:
- Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.
- Candidates may substitute two years of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.
- Candidates may substitute three years of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative or teaching capacity as a Registered Nurse for the required experience.
- Candidates may substitute a Master’s degree in nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university for the two years of Community Health Nurse required experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing or Health Care Specialist specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience and education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (writing and speaking).
- Experience working in maternal and child health or a similar specialty area.
- Experience with reportable conditions and communicable disease activities.
- Experience with perinatal care coordination.
- Experience with lead case management.
- Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing.
- Employees may be assigned duties requiring the operation of an automobile and must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in Maryland.
