Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA)

Evening Shift: 2:45 pm – 11:15 pm
Monday – Friday with alternating weekends
Part Time – 24 Hours Per Week
Pay Rate: $19.00 – $23.00 based on experience + applicable shift differential

• Provide practical established Geriatric Nursing Assistant skills to residents following Fahrney‑Keedy’s policies and procedures.
• Assist nurses and supervisory staff in resident care on the units.
• Provide quality care by checking resident and room at least every two hours to ensure the care is provided in a safe timely manner.
• Provide strong verbal and written communication skills with residents, family members, visitors, staff, etc.

As a Geriatric Nursing Assistant, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibilities and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

Employment with Fahrney‑Keedy is “at will.” Either the employee or Fahrney‑Keedy may terminate the employment relationship for any reason at any time without notice, regardless of the length of employment or the granting of benefits of any kind, including but not limited to benefits which provide for vesting based on length of service.

• Perform all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures and as instructed by supervisors.
• Follow work assignments and/or work schedules to complete assigned tasks.
• Cooperate with inter‑departmental staff and other facility staff to ensure nursing services can be adequately maintained to meet residents’ needs.
• Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positive emphasis, and a calm environment throughout the unit and shift.
• Report all complaints and grievances made by a resident immediately.
• Notify the facility when you will be late or absent from work – at least two hours prior to your shift start time.
• Report work‑related injuries or illnesses and/or occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals to your supervisor.
• Report known or suspected incidents of fraud to the supervisor.
• Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty.
• Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
• Assist residents with daily dental and mouth care (e.g., brushing teeth/dentures, oral hygiene, special mouth care).
• Assist residents with bath functions (e.g., bed bath, tub or shower bath) as directed.
• Assist residents with dressing/undressing as necessary.
• Assist residents with hair care functions (e.g., combing, brushing, shampooing).
• Assist residents with nail care (e.g., clipping, trimming, and cleaning finger/toenails; does not include diabetic residents).
• Keep residents dry (change gown, clothing, linen, etc. when wet or soiled).
• Change bed linens; keep linens tight to avoid wrinkles beneath the resident.
• Make beds (occupied and unoccupied).
• Put extra covers on beds as requested.
• Position bed‑fast residents in correct and comfortable position. Reposition every two hours.
