The EVS Technician performs specialized cleaning and sanitization duties throughout the healthcare facility to maintain a safe, clean, and infection-controlled environment. This role follows strict regulatory guidelines while supporting patient care areas and interacting with staff, patients, and visitors.
Minimum Qualifications- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
- Maryland resident
- Individuals eligible for the Maryland Service Year Program (generally ages 18–24)
- Experience: One year of cleaning or housekeeping experience preferred
- Licensure/Certification: None required
- Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to perform heavy‑duty cleaning and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety protocols
- Strong attention to detail and infection control practices
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, equipment, and public areas
- Perform specialized cleaning in regulated areas (e.g., operating rooms, MRI, pharmacy)
- Remove and dispose of infectious and non‑infectious waste safely
- Complete required documentation and checklists
- Follow all infection control, safety, and regulatory guidelines
- Use PPE and specialized cleaning techniques
- Assist with training and supporting other EVS staff
- This is a physically demanding role with constant movement and cleaning tasks
- Work is highly detail‑oriented and regulated
—procedures must be followed exactly - You’ll work in both public and clinical areas, including sensitive environments
- Tasks can be repetitive but are critical to patient safety
- You’ll interact with patients and staff regularly while working
- Exposure to infectious materials and strict safety protocols is part of the role
- Hospital environment with exposure to biological materials and cleaning chemicals
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling
- Requires use of PPE and adherence to infection control standards
- High physical activity and attention to detail required
- Team‑based but often independently executed work
- Areas are consistently clean, sanitized, and compliant with standards
- Infection control protocols are followed without exception
- Documentation is accurate and complete
- Patients and staff experience a clean, safe environment
- You work efficiently while maintaining high quality standards
