Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring at least one year of ED travel experience and a compact or MD RN license.

Details
  • Work in a 54-bed Emergency Department seeing an average of 220 patients per day
  • Level 2 Trauma Center with high acuity patients
  • Combined adult/pediatric ED setting
  • STEMI and Stroke certified facility
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:00
  • 20-week assignment length
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Floating required in rotation with facility staff based on clinical experience and unit orientation
  • Expected to work some holidays and weekends
Requirements
  • Active RN license (Compact or Maryland state license) required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • At least 1 year of ED travel experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Skills needed include BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and blood product administration
  • Experience with central line care, IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation, and procedural sedation preferred
  • Experience managing trauma, gunshot wounds, dysrhythmias, and CVA patients required
  • Ortho trauma experience preferred
  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Provide emergency nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity trauma environment
  • Responsibilities include triage, isolation precautions/PPE compliance, and cardiac monitoring with dysrhythmia management
  • 2-step PPD and flu vaccine required with no exemptions
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted for this position
  • Travelers must separate for a minimum of 90 days after 1 year before being eligible to return
  • Former permanent employees must be separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
  • Requested time off must be submitted and approved prior to the start of the assignment
  • Non-billable training modules averaging 4-8 hours are completed during orientation and annually
