to join our team as a Registered Nurse (RN) and help provide exceptional care and support to patients throughout their cancer journey.
The John R. Marsh Cancer Center at Meritus Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our oncology care team. In this role, you’ll care for patients receiving chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, and supportive cancer care while working alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Oncology nursing is about more than administering treatment. You’ll be a trusted clinical resource, educator, advocate, and source of support for patients and their families during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
Why This Role MattersAs an Oncology RN, you will help patients safely navigate complex cancer treatments while providing the education, reassurance, and individualized care they need throughout treatment. You’ll combine strong clinical assessment skills with compassion and patient advocacy to help deliver an exceptional care experience.
What You’ll Do- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care for oncology patients.
- Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and other cancer-related treatments in accordance with established safety standards and protocols.
- Monitor patients for treatment response, adverse reactions, and side effects and intervene appropriately.
- Provide education to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, side effect management, and available resources.
- Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, social workers, nutritionists, radiation oncology, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Serve as a patient advocate and help patients navigate their treatment and ongoing care needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).
- Follow established infection prevention, medication safety, patient safety, and regulatory standards.
- Provide compassionate emotional support to patients and families throughout their cancer journey.
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience in a hospital setting required.
Licensure
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Maryland
, or a qualifying multistate/Compact RN license that meets Maryland Board of Nursing requirements. - A compact-state RN license designated as Single State does not meet this requirement; a Maryland RN license would be required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to apply professional nursing standards with compassion, empathy, and sound clinical judgment.
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Basic computer and electronic documentation skills.
