Aircraft Inspector III

Location: Hagerstown, MD
Duration: Contract
Pay Rate: $44.00 per hour
Schedule: Flexible schedule - 40 hours per week

Position Overview

We are partnering with a leading aerospace and defense organization to hire an experienced Aircraft Inspector III. This role is responsible for performing advanced aircraft inspections to ensure airworthiness, regulatory compliance, and adherence to manufacturer and engineering specifications.

The Aircraft Inspector III will conduct in-process inspections, perform final inspections on minor work (non-337 forms), and authorize return-to-service approvals for qualifying maintenance activities. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across aircraft modification, maintenance, and avionics integration programs.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Inspection & Quality Assurance:
    Perform detailed inspections of aircraft structures, systems, equipment, and components to verify airworthiness and compliance.
  • Inspect structural modifications, repairs, installations, and adjustments in accordance with approved engineering drawings and technical data.
  • Conduct inspections of avionics upgrades, including manufacturing, installation, integration, wiring, and testing activities.
  • Perform in-process inspections and final inspections of minor maintenance work.
  • Approve return-to-service documentation for qualifying non-337 maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance and modification work complies with FAA regulations, OEM requirements, engineering specifications, and company procedures.
  • Review and validate maintenance records, work orders, logbooks, inspection reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Complete inspection checklists, discrepancy reports, non-conformance reports, and corrective action documentation.
  • Ensure all maintenance and inspection activities are accurately documented in accordance with FAA Part 145 requirements and company quality standards.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree or higher in Aviation Maintenance or a related field preferred.
  • Higher-level education may substitute for a portion of required experience.
  • Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Avionics certifications such as NCATT or FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License are a plus.
  • Typically, 3+ years of aircraft maintenance, modification, inspection, or quality assurance experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience focused on aircraft inspection, structural modifications, and/or avionics systems integration.
