As an Aircraft Inspector IV, you will apply advanced inspection skills to ensure that aircraft, systems, components, and equipment meet all airworthiness, manufacturer, and regulatory standards. You will exercise inspection authority across all in‑process and final inspections, with responsibility for determining compliance, identifying discrepancies, and approving work for return to service. This position plays a critical role in operational safety, regulatory compliance, and the integrity of aircraft maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect aircraft, systems, equipment, and parts to confirm airworthiness and adherence to manufacturer specifications and government regulations.
- Perform and document all in‑process inspections and final inspections.
- Provide approval for return to service of completed work.
- Identify any deviations from airworthiness standards and ensure proper corrective action.
- Support aviation‑related operations in a safety‑sensitive environment.
- Inspect, handle, or oversee hazardous materials, explosive devices, and high‑risk equipment when required.
- Maintain strict compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory procedures.
- Frequent walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs/steps.
- Repetitive hand, arm, and finger movements; manual dexterity required.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, depth perception, and color differentiation.
- Hearing requirements include distinguishing tones and varying volumes.
- Occasional lifting/carrying of up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
- Frequent exposure to fumes, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
- Frequent exposure to loud noise environments.
- Directly responsible for the safety/security of personnel and property.
- May inspect or manage hazardous materials, explosives, or aviation‑critical systems.
- May operate or supervise the operation of heavy and dangerous equipment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Active, current FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification.
- Advanced knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, equipment, and parts.
- Strong understanding of product audits, inspection standards, and quality procedures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Working knowledge of 14 CFR Chapter 1.
- Experience with civil or government aviation inspection operations or FAA Repair Station procedures.
- Experience conducting first article inspections.
- Background in aircraft modifications.
- Experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry, U.S. Department of Defense, or U.S. Military.
- High school diploma or GED and typically 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Higher‑level degrees may substitute for years of experience.
- Related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
