Onsite Product Quality Leader
Apex Systems is looking to hire an Onsite Product Quality Leader for our client based out of Greensboro, NC OR Hagerstown, Maryland.
This assignment is anticipated to be a 12 month contract with strong potential for extension; however, Apex Systems cannot guarantee the length of this assignment.
This will also have a first shift Monday–Friday schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Investigate and prioritize market product quality issues to ensure product performance and customer satisfaction.
- Lead problem-solving activities across engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and field service teams.
- Chair Field Quality Meetings and lead Quality Action Groups for assigned markets.
- Detect and quantify customer quality issues early using enhanced analytics.
- Recommend containment actions and appropriate quality tools for field issues.
- Coordinate and prioritize quality actions across internal departments.
- Communicate product quality status and customer satisfaction metrics clearly across the organization.
- Validate the effectiveness of implemented quality solutions.
- Present technical descriptions for external campaigns and participate in campaign committees.
- Identify and escalate potential safety-related issues.
- Lead initiatives within the Product Quality Leader network to meet application quality goals.
- Influence prioritization of major unresolved issues across the team.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a business-related field;
Master’s degree preferred. - 5+ years of experience in the automotive industry, ideally in service or maintenance roles.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams or managing projects.
- Familiarity with dealership operations or direct dealer interface.
- Strong judgment and prioritization skills focused on customer and brand value.
- Ability to build credibility and establish positive relationships across teams.
- Experience with quality solving processes, predictive analytics, and data mining.
- Strong customer focus and global collaboration experience.
- Fluent in English.
- Global experience in product quality or customer satisfaction roles.
- Proven ability to align technical work with broader business strategies.
- Experience presenting technical findings to executive or cross-functional committees.
Required Skills: Top 3 requirements:
Technical Understanding of Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (tech issues, vehicle components) Data Storytelling (able to turn data and complaints to a story to find solution / create action) Strong communication (able to talk to all business: engineering, operations, purchasing, and commercial), trucking or automotive industry background HUGE plus
Specific roles/titles of interest:
Quality Engineers (not supplier-focused candidates) Reliability/Durability Engineers Less success has been found with Supplier Quality or Manufacturing Engineers who don't have cross-functional exposure or problem-solving breadth - do not focus here
