About

The Position

The Energy Advisor will be responsible for sourcing energy efficiency opportunities through an outbound sales approach to include calls, emails, and in‑person outreach efforts. This role is perfect for a Rockstar that wants to hunt, "own the role" and thrives in a competitive environment. You will be responsible for qualifying opportunities, marketing to potential clients both virtually and in‑person and building relationships with stakeholders and across business sectors.

You will participate in foundational conversations, helping to promote Delmarva Power’s Commercial Energy Efficiency Program, while actively working to expand awareness and adoption of the program.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Source energy efficiency opportunities through a multifaceted approach to include outbound sales calls, emails, presentations, and in‑person outreach efforts.
  • Schedule and regularly attend virtual and in‑person meetings with prospective customers and stakeholder organizations.
  • Act as the customer’s advocate to ensure the customer obtains accurate knowledge of energy efficiency rebate programs in the marketplace.
  • Increase customer awareness of bottom‑line benefits resulting from energy conservation solutions.
  • Cultivate and develop new business through relationships with professional organizations and trade allies.
  • Apply knowledge of additional state and federal funding programs to drive deeper energy savings.
  • Maintain and update information in our lead management system.
  • Attend and participate in networking events, conferences, and speaking engagements, including occasional evenings, overnights, or weekends.
  • Support traditional and digital marketing campaigns and initiatives.
  • Provide support to the Program Manager as needed.
  • Participate in MDEA activities, including team meetings, attending required trainings, and supporting business development initiatives.
  • Assist with other projects and adapt to changing program priorities.
Qualifications
  • Must reside on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and possess established relationships and/or demonstrated ability to build connections with key business owners and influential market leaders in the region.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited University or equivalent.
  • 1‑3 years of sales or outreach experience with a strong customer‑centric mindset.
  • Excellent presentation skills including good listening, probing, and qualification abilities.
  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and client service orientation. Ability to connect quickly with others and establish rapport.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel).
  • Ability to work well in a fast‑paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Ability and openness to travel within the Delmarva Power service territory; must have a current, valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and proof of motor vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on successful energy efficiency programs, especially in Maryland.
  • Expertise in energy efficiency technologies and products (especially commercial energy‑efficient measures), energy issues in existing commercial and industrial buildings, and US policies for energy efficiency.
  • Certified Energy Manager, LEED, other industry certifications are a plus.
Work Environment
  • This is a hybrid role with "office" work to be primarily conducted from home and regular travel within the Delmarva Power Service Territory for client or stakeholder meetings and events.
  • Friendly, fun, cooperative, and very fast‑paced. Staff members need to be able to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
Benefits
  • Medical, dental and vision health insurance
  • 401k
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
