Operations Supervisor – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)

Position Summary

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily security operations within an immigration detention facility operating under U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention standards. The supervisor provides direct leadership to detention officers and ensures that facility operations are conducted safely, professionally, and in compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and contractual requirements.

The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the safe and orderly operation of the facility during their assigned shift and may serve as the senior operational authority during that period. The Operations Supervisor monitors staff performance, coordinates operational activities, and supports facility leadership in maintaining a secure and orderly environment for staff, detainees, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Supervision

  • Supervise detention officers and other assigned personnel during scheduled shifts.
  • Ensure staff performs duties in accordance with facility policies, post orders, and ICE detention standards.
  • Coordinate daily security operations including housing unit supervision, movement control, and facility activities.
  • Provide guidance, direction, and support to staff to maintain effective facility operations.

Safety and Security Oversight

  • Monitor facility operations to ensure safety, security, and accountability of detainee populations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of housing units, common areas, and facility operations.
  • Ensure security procedures, counts, rounds, and other required activities are completed in accordance with established procedures.
  • Respond to and manage incidents, emergencies, or disturbances as required.

Incident Management

  • Supervise staff response to incidents and ensure appropriate actions are taken in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Prepare or review incident reports and ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Notify facility leadership of significant incidents or operational concerns.

Staff Leadership and Development

  • Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to detention officers and operational staff.
  • Monitor staff performance and address operational issues or policy violations when necessary.
  • Support staff training initiatives and reinforce expectations related to professionalism and conduct.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of operational activities, incidents, and shift reports.
  • Ensure required logs, reports, and documentation are completed and submitted in accordance with facility procedures.
  • Communicate relevant operational information to facility leadership and incoming shifts.
