Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Avionics Technician IV to perform avionics maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, testing, and repair activities on aircraft systems in accordance with applicable FAA, FCC, and company standards. This role requires strong technical expertise in avionics integration, aircraft modifications, wire harness fabrication, connector termination, and system functional testing.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience interpreting technical documentation, performing complex avionics installations, and ensuring aircraft systems meet performance, quality, and safety requirements. This position may also provide guidance and mentoring to junior technicians while supporting modification, upgrade, and maintenance programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform avionics maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, repair, and installation activities on aircraft systems and components.
- Execute aircraft modification projects including equipment installation, wiring, harness fabrication, and system integration.
- Assemble, route, terminate, inspect, and test aircraft wire harnesses in accordance with engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Conduct continuity checks, ring-out procedures, connector verification, and functional testing of installed systems.
- Interpret and work from technical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, manuals, publications, and engineering drawings.
- Route wires and cables per technical drawings while maintaining aircraft quality and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot avionics systems using appropriate test equipment and diagnostic methods.
- Perform soldering, crimping, wiring repairs, and connector terminations to industry and aerospace standards.
- Maintain avionics tools, test equipment, and technical documentation.
- Ensure compliance with FAA, FCC, company, and customer requirements.
- Support system verification, inspections, and quality assurance activities.
- Mentor and assist less experienced technicians as needed.

- El Ochito RF connectors
- Understanding and interpreting technical schematics
- Understanding and interpreting wiring diagrams
- Understanding and interpreting blueprints
- Understanding and interpreting engineering drawings
- Understanding and interpreting manuals and technical publications
- Routing wires per technical drawings
- Soldering techniques
- Crimping techniques
- Wiring diagnostics and repair
- Basic understanding of:
- Oscilloscopes
- Spectrometers
- Pitot-static equipment
Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Typically 10+ years of related avionics experience.
- Advanced knowledge of avionics installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and interpret moderately complex technical documentation and engineering drawings.
- Must possess personal tools in good working condition.
- Strong experience with aircraft wiring, harness fabrication, connector termination, soldering, and crimping.
- FCC familiarity and/or FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL).
- Aerospace and Defense industry experience.
- U.S. military aviation maintenance experience.
- Ability to mentor and guide junior technicians.
- Experience supporting aircraft modification and upgrade programs.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if required.
- Frequently walk, stand, sit, climb stairs, and work in aircraft maintenance environments.
- Perform repetitive hand, arm, and finger movements requiring fine motor skills and dexterity.
- Ability to distinguish colors, perceive depth, and perform detailed visual inspections.
- Ability to hear varying tones and volumes in operational environments.
- Occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent exposure to outdoor environmental conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and sunlight.
- Exposure to fumes, hazardous materials, and chemicals associated with aircraft maintenance operations.
- Exposure to moderate to high noise levels in hangar and flight-line environments.
