McCarthy Tire Service is seeking a dependable and skilled Trailer Mechanic to join our team in Hagerstown, MD. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and experienced in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing trailers. As part of the McCarthy Tire Service team, you will play an important role in ensuring equipment remains reliable, safe, and ready to support our customers’ operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventive maintenance and general repairs on medium- to heavy-duty trucks and trailers to meet DOT and company standards.
  • Diagnose and repair issues related:
  • Air and hydraulic brakes
  • Tires
  • Suspension and steering systems
  • Electrical systems
  • Drivelines
  • Mobile A/C and refrigeration
  • Trailer doors, floors, and side panels
  • Engine overhauls and rebuilds
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and repair work as needed to maintain and restore trailer equipment.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of all repairs using internal systems.
  • Work collaboratively with safety, operations, and driving staff to reduce vehicle downtime and ensure compliance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Perform occasional service calls and work overtime as needed.
Requirements:

Valid Class 7 Inspection License (required)

CDL License (preferred)

Must own your own tools

Must pass DOT physical, background check, and drug test

Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills, with solid trailer repair experience

Familiarity with electronic diagnostics and repair procedures
