Lead Aircraft Inspector

To ensure that Royal Aircraft Services (RAS) aircraft are maintained to the highest standard possible, while enforcing all procedures and policies established by RAS and Current Federal Aviation Regulations.

Responsibilities / Duties
  • Promotes safety throughout the organization.
  • Ensures maintenance performed at RAS adheres to Federal Aviation Regulations, Company Policies including Part 145 Repair Station Manuals, and technical data from product OEMs and other approved sources.
  • Shall ensure that Current Technical Data is available to technicians prior to performing work, during work performance, and routinely audit available tech data. Coordinate with General Manager to procure/maintain technical data as appropriate for work being performed at RAS.
  • Demonstrates on a daily basis a commitment to the continuous improvement of safety and safety culture throughout the organization.
  • Make decisions regarding safety risk acceptance involving Airworthiness release process and aircraft return to service.
  • Reviews routine and non-routine work cards, logbook entries, and sign‑offs for accuracy and completion according to company policies, repair station manuals, and Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Certifies the aircraft airworthiness (with regard to the work performed) after an inspection by signing the airworthiness release for RAS and on customer forms as appropriate.
  • Records and verifies maintenance technicians record discrepancies identified onto appropriate RAS and customer forms.
  • Understand at a subject‑matter‑expert level all RAS maintenance related documentation and forms, to include the Repair Station Manual, Quality Control Manual, Training Manual, Forms Manual, and Capabilities List.
  • Understand at a subject‑matter‑expert level Federal Aviation Regulations as they relate to RAS and it’s operations, as well as those of it’s customers with a focus on customers operating in Part 121 and 135 environments.
  • Evaluate and submit changes, as needed, for RAS inspection and maintenance procedures and policies.
  • Owns the airworthiness release / logbook entry process.
  • Oversees the RAS Tool Calibration Program.
  • Oversees the RAS Shelf Life Program (parts, materials, and consumables).
  • Ensures contractors that perform work on RAS aircraft or appliances or on behalf of RAS are in compliance with applicable CFR and Company policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that corrective actions, as relate to RAS aircraft and aircraft maintenance activities are recorded, tracked, and resolved to completion per Company Policy and the Federal Aviation Administration.
  • Verify correct performance of aircraft Weight and Balance activities and verify correct recording/updating on appropriate RAS and/or customer forms after each weighing event or recalculation.
  • Assist Maintenance Technicians with maintenance and troubleshooting of aircraft.
  • In addition to routine aircraft inspection duties, an inspector shall be required to perform receiving inspections of materials and/or equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
  • Reports directly to the RAS General Manager, the Accountable Manager.
Qualifications
  • Must hold a current FAA A&P license.
  • Must meet the requirements of 14 CFR 65.83.
  • Five (5) years’ experience on FAA certificated aircraft with particular consideration to the types frequently maintained and serviced at RAS (Cessna, Beechcraft, Piper, etc…).
  • Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language as per 14 CFR 65.71(a)(2).
Additional Qualifications
  • Inspection Authorization preferred.
  • Prior experience as an aircraft quality inspector.
  • Prior experience in Part 145 Repair Stations.
  • Prior experience with Part 135 fleet operators.
Supervisory Responsibility

Responsible for oversight and inspection of all maintenance activities performed at RAS per the Repair Station Manual and other company policies. This is a functional leadership role over inspection activities with the future possibility of direct leadership of additional inspectors. Maintenance technicians may be granted inspection privileges, over which this role will oversee the performance of all inspection activities in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company policies, including the Repair Station Manual and Quality Control Manual.

Working

Conditions and Physical Effort

Work typically performed onsite in a hangar environment. However, due to work requirements, may require occasional travel (offsite work, such as work at customer facilities or AOG response activities). Work will involve regular exposure to noise, chemicals, adverse temperatures and other similar hazards.
