School Bus Attendant (Bus 556) – Serves Clear Spring Middle School, Clear Spring High School, and others as needed. Meets the bus at AC&T on Garland Groh Boulevard. Grade 4 of the ESP Salary Scale ($17.18 – $31.07). 7.25 hours per day. Reports to Supervisor of Transportation. Employee Benefits Summary.

• Completed the Washington County Public School's pre‑service training program for bus attendants.
• Current certified school bus attendant with WCPS.
• Meets the Maryland State Department of Education in‑service requirements for continued employment as a school bus attendant.
• No evidence of a criminal record.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

• Ability to make appropriate decisions in emergency situations.
• Ability to work with students with disabilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

• Assist with pupil accountability.
• Assist the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.
• Assist students in getting on and off the bus.
• Correctly load, unload and secure students who require a wheelchair or other special equipment for mobility or safety.
• Provide written record of violations of student behavior to the bus driver and appropriate school personnel.
• Demonstrate courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools.
• Perform other school bus assistant‑related duties as assigned.

• Required periods of sitting.
• Must have use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with others (see normal definition of ability to see, read, talk, and hear).
• Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
• Ability to move, raise, lower, and carry objects up to 20 lbs regularly and over 20 lbs irregularly.
• Must be able to bend, crouch, stoop, reach, and climb stairs.
• Will be subjected to loud noises, dust, fumes, hot and cold outdoor temperatures and related weather conditions.
