Job Overview
Registration Scheduling Clerk – Health Information Services (Admitting & Registration – Day Surgery). Permanent, Full Time (100% FTE).
Location:
Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Reports to:
Manager of Health Information Services.
Start date:
06/01/2026. Union status: NSGEU Off & Cler, Admin Professionals Bargaining Unit. Compensation: $23.3519–$25.3918 per hour.
- Complete patient booking/scheduling and participate in patient registration.
- Answer telephone/e‑mail inquiries, communicate messages accurately, refer inquiries with follow‑up as appropriate.
- Photocopy reports and correspondence and distribute accordingly.
- Prepare daily schedules and maintain office filing system & records for efficient storage and retrieval.
- Receive referrals and process them for review by the clinical coordinator.
- Attend team meetings.
- Prepare and scan patient charts.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Maintain daily statistics for appointments.
- Schedule surgical operating room booking/scheduling, patient appointments and register clinic patients via Meditech.
- Manage inventory of supplies and place orders as required.
- Minimum High School diploma or G.E.D.; graduation from an Office Administration Program is preferred.
- Previous experience in a similar role is an asset.
- Keyboarding skills of at least 40 words per minute; 60 wpm preferred (testing may be conducted).
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other computer programs/technology (testing may be conducted).
- Proven team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to respectfully work with a variety of inter‑professional team members.
- High degree of initiative, diligence, attention to detail and self‑discipline/focus.
- Commitment to continual learning and willingness to share knowledge and support the development of co‑workers.
- Knowledge of Family Centered Care.
- Flexibility to accommodate shift changes on short notice and meet workload demands.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and/or Meditech is an asset.
- Multilingual competency is considered an asset;
French preferred.
