Overview
As a Governance & Executive Support Specialist, you will play a central role in supporting the IWK Foundation’s mission to advance children’s, youth’s, and women’s health. Your work will directly impact the health and well‑being of women, children, youth, and families through strong governance practices and executive-level support.
Responsibilities
Work closely with the President & CEO, COO, and senior team to anchor EOS accountability and administrative processes.
Serve as the critical link between the Board of Trustees, its committees, and the CEO’s office to ensure smooth communication and effective governance.
Manage the Board of Trustees’ workplan, including preparing and organizing Board meeting materials.
Oversee governance documents for compliance and facilitate the completion of action items.
Coordinate Trustee & Officer nominations, onboarding, and engagement for new Board members.
Provide executive support to the CEO’s office, managing calendars, high‑touch donor meetings, travel arrangements, and correspondence.
Maintain confidential and sensitive information with exceptional judgment and discretion.
Adapt to an energetic environment, prioritizing tasks daily and managing multiple responsibilities with resiliency.
Qualifications
Post‑secondary education and 10+ years of experience in board governance and executive support.
Proven direct accountability to a board and in‑depth knowledge of governance practices.
Strong critical thinking, relationship‑building, writing, editing, and presentation skills.
High proficiency in MS Office and web‑based applications.
Forward‑thinking, proactive problem‑solving with strong decision‑making abilities.
Emotional maturity and the ability to anticipate the needs of the CEO and Board of Trustees.
Exceptional organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines with ease.
