Role Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Portfolio Accounting, this role is responsible for overseeing portfolio accounting activities for assigned clients and portfolios, with a focus on technical ownership and effective resolution of complex matters. The position serves as a key subject‑matter resource, applying judgment to resolve accounting and operational issues, support projects and initiatives, and partner with internal teams on non‑standard scenarios.

The role works closely with client service teams and other internal stakeholders to support client inquiries, provide clear explanations of portfolio outcomes, and drive matters through to completion. In addition to core portfolio responsibilities, the individual is expected to identify opportunities to strengthen processes and controls and contribute to practical improvements that enhance accuracy and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Perform and oversee portfolio accounting activities, monitoring daily and month‑end deliverables, reviewing outputs for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

Review and maintain reconciliations and controls, ensuring discrepancies are identified, investigated, and resolved in a timely manner.

Act as a technical resource for accounting and operational issues, independently investigating and resolving discrepancies, root causes, and system or data‑related issues.

Support projects and initiatives such as system enhancements, process changes, or remediation of recurring issues.

Partner with internal teams to resolve complex or non‑standard scenarios, applying judgment rather than relying solely on precedent.

Serve as a point of support for client inquiries, either directly or in partnership with client service teams, providing clear explanations of results, drivers, and issues.

Critically evaluate existing processes, controls, and workflows to identify inefficiencies or gaps, and proactively raise improvement ideas that lead to practical enhancements.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related analytically focused field (such as Business, Mathematics, Computer Science), or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in the fund administration industry, with prior experience supporting investment funds or portfolios.

Broad exposure to multiple financial instrument types, with the ability to interpret investment activity and analyze drivers of portfolio‑and security‑level P&L.

Strong technical aptitude, including the ability to troubleshoot complex issues, support projects, and serve as a subject‑matter resource.

Client‑facing experience or close collaboration with client service teams, supporting communication, issue resolution, and ongoing relationship management.

Proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement, including identifying inefficiencies, raising issues, and contributing ideas to improve processes and outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

Professional accounting or finance designation, such as CPA or CFA, or active progress toward a recognized credential.

Experience with general ledger and investment accounting systems, with preferred familiarity in FIS VPM (Virtus Performance Management), SS&C Advent Geneva, or comparable enterprise accounting platforms.

Advanced capability in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, financial data consolidation, and building structured reconciliation and variance analysis schedules.

What to Expect
We are committed to setting our colleagues up for success from day one. During your initial months, you may participate in more frequent in‑office training designed to build your knowledge, confidence, and connections.

As you become established in your role, you will transition to our hybrid working model, currently consisting of 3 days per week in the office, offering both flexibility and continued collaboration.
