Labour and Employee Relations AVP

Location: Halifax Regional Municipality

Lead Dalhousie University’s labour and employee relations as the Assistant Vice-President. Collaborate with senior leaders while ensuring a principled approach to employee relations and union interactions.

As the AVP, you will strategize and execute labour relations initiatives, fostering strong relationships with unions and employee groups. Your expertise will guide senior leadership on complex workplace matters, including collective bargaining and conflict resolution. This role emphasizes a people-first approach while advancing equity-informed practices within the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership in labour and employee relations

• Lead collective bargaining strategies and union relationships

• Advise leaders on performance management and workplace conflict

• Oversee application of employment frameworks and policies

• Monitor legislative trends to minimize institutional risk

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field

• Ten years of progressive experience in labour relations

• Strong knowledge of employee relations practices

• Proven relationship-building skills with diverse groups

• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
