The Portfolio and Business Performance team plays a pivotal role for Canada Segment in driving easier execution, smarter capital allocation, and faster delivery of our strategic priorities. This team directly supports the acceleration and tracking of our ambitious segment strategy.
The newly created role of Director, Compliance represents a unique opportunity to build a new compliance function from the ground up within the Canada Segment. As our first dedicated compliance leader embedded in the business, this role will shape the long‑term framework that protects our customers, strengthens our governance, and enables more confident and efficient execution of our strategy. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design and influence core policies, processes, and controls across all four business units, positioning themselves as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and a key contributor to our mission of operating with integrity and delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.
Success in this position requires deep regulatory expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate highly complex compliance matters with minimal supervision.
Position Responsibilities:
Lead the development and continuous improvement of Canada Segment’s compliance programs, starting with customer data retention policy.
Establish the governance of system data retention and destruction practices for the Canada Segment, ensuring alignment with regulatory obligations and enterprise data standards.
Oversee timely submission of all required regulatory filings (e.g., CCIR, provincial regulators, CLHIA, privacy related filings).
Partner with Legal, Compliance, Finance, Operations, and other key functions to develop, maintain, and administer policies and procedures that effectively prevent, detect, and remediate compliance issues across federal and provincial regulatory areas.
Provide leadership and subject-matter expertise for enterprise and divisional compliance initiatives, including policy development, internal investigations, and training programs.
Ensure appropriate retention and maintenance of compliance related records and oversee alignment of these practices with broader customer and system data retention requirements.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual compliance reporting for internal stakeholders and governance bodies.
Required Qualifications:
8+ years in compliance, legal, or audit roles, including at least 5 years supporting or administering a compliance program.
Degree(s) in compliance, law, finance, operations, audit, paired with a risk and/or records management certification(s) such as Electronic Document & Record Management (EDRM), Certified Record Manager (CRM) or Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).
Strong understanding of records management principles, including regulatory retention requirements, destruction standards, and data lifecycle governance for both physical/digital records and system data.
Experience interacting with regulators and auditors.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to think independently and solve complex problems.
Strong ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements and translate them into effective policies, procedures, and recommendations.
Demonstrated project management capability, with the ability to understand business processes, analyze complex situations, and provide practical recommendations.
Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Quebec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.
